The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Permit Unit issued an brief statement warning drivers andWisconsin Flooding Road Closures carriers about road closures and travel restrictions after recent storms and severe flooding.

Drivers, carriers and dispatchers are advised to check 511wi.gov ahead of departure to check for closures or travel restrictions. Most will be published online, however some local closures or restrictions may not be published on the website.

The full statement read:

“Carriers and drivers are cautioned to check 511wi.gov for current system closures and restrictions prior to departure. Many regions of the state have been significantly impacted by recent storms and resulting high water. This has caused road and bridge closures as well as weight restrictions on those affected segments. In addition please be aware local systems may be affected as well which are not in the state 511 system. Please check in regularly as closures and restrictions are continually being adjusted as the system is evaluated. More thunderstorms and severe weather are forecast for this evening and tomorrow which hold the potentials to further disrupt routes.”

Continued thunderstorms are in the forecast for Southwest Wisconsin as well as Minnesota.
