NHH Services along with its parent company, Medallion Transport Holdings and affiliate companies, Medallion Transport & Logistics and ACE Heavy Haul, have been lending a helping hand to Hurricane Harvey victims shortly after the storm made landfall.

Along with the help of vendors, customers, friends and family, NHH Services was able to take a truck and trailer full of goods to Baytown, TX and Beaumont, TX in early September, which were areas directly affected by the hurricane and its aftermath. NHH Services & affiliate companies collect supplies for Texas

NHH worked directly with churches, other non-profits, businesses and individuals to gather bottled water, clothes, shoes, other articles of clothing, diapers, wipes and more for people in need.

An NHH team member made the 22-hour drive from Indiana to Beaumont with the truck and trailer and upon arrival, the goods were dispersed to about 50 people directly, some of which were without drinking water for days. Additional supplies from the load were donated to a medical clinic and a foster care organization, which reached out to families in need and coordinated disbursement of the supplies.

The efforts didn’t stop there. Two additional truckloads of goods were gathered and shipped to Texas, including over 10 boxes of needed goods. NHH and its sister companies have rallied a lot of involvement by many to help collect donations.

Many restaurants and stores were still closed in various cities and counties hit by the storm, and people were without access to everyday essentials such as safe drinking water, hygiene products, clothing and food for over 10 days following the storm. Some displaced victims were left with no personal belongings.

Medallion Transport Holdings, along with NHH Services and its affiliate companies also raised money for victims via a GoFundMe campaign. The crowdfunding efforts yielded over $11,000 and donations are still coming in.

Through NHH’s connections in the Baytown area, all companies under the Medallion Transport Holdings umbrella were connected with an elementary school located about 20 miles from Houston, TX, Barrett Elementary School. They are the beneficiary of some of the money raised via GoFundMe.

Barret Principal Karen Walthall had about 60 families in need of immediate financial help with expenses including home repairs (both major and minor), utility bill payments and other living expenses. Some families have been completely displaced from their homes until repairs are made and/or utility bills are paid to turn electricity back on.

A clean-up day is set for Saturday, Nov. 4 where supplies will be purchased to make some of the home repairs. Managers from both Medallion Transport Holdings and NHH Services will travel to Barrett to lend a direct hand.

The GoFundMe campaign is still running. Click here to view campaign details and to donate.

The office at NHH’s Baytown Operation Center was wiped out by the storm, and the yard had significant damage. NHH has relocated its yard and office nearby at 24941 I-10, Wallisville, TX 77597.
