NHH Services’ owner-operator Cliff Richard took his longtime best friend and past truck driver, Ed Morris, on a touching final ride in the passenger seat of his truck. NHH Owner-Op Takes Longtime Driver for Final Ride

Richard drove Morris’ ashes from the funeral home to the cemetery in Delhi, Louisiana after Morris passed in July. According to Morris’ wife and kids who made the last ride possible, being in the truck again alongside his best friend was one of his dying wishes.

The pair had been friends for over 40 years and built a special bond with trucking and NHH at the center of it. Richard and Morris and a third close friend met while working with current NHH dispatcher, Alice Turner. Their relationship continued even after their trucking careers took them down different paths.

Eventually, Morris was able to retire, while Richard stayed in the business and has been a valued owner-op for NHH for several years.

“Trucking is a brotherhood and when you’re in it, you stay in it,” said Turner.

While the ride to the cemetery was an easy one, it was very emotional for Richard and the NHH family, especially Turner. They led the precession to the burial.

Turner is a valued dispatcher for the company and in her 30 plus years in the business she has also built lifetime bonds with the drivers she dispatches.

“Truckers have a normal life like everyone else, but their office is on 18 wheels,” she said. “When Morris passed his family knew I loved the old man and called me to make sure I was OK. He was a fighter.”
